Science of Wind – Data Set

Summary

This wind energy data analysis activity challenges high school students to interpret a graph of hourly electricity load versus wind output from ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas). Students will analyze the intermittent nature of wind power by identifying peak demand times and comparing them to wind generation. The questions encourage critical thinking about the need for energy storage and backup sources.
