Summary

This activity is a multi-station, high-level hands-on natural gas lab where high school students explore its full lifecycle. Students will simulate methane production, model hydraulic fracturing, and conduct a combustion experiment to compare energy output and emissions. The lab culminates in a concept map, connecting formation, extraction, use, and environmental impacts.
